Periodically, I'm unable to launch the SCVMM 2012 Console. The logon hangs for a few minutes (the actual splash screen never pops up), and then finally states that it cannot connect to the VMM host. The error ID provided is 1602.
Furthermore, any DPM 2012 virtual machine backup jobs fail. All this is "fixed" by rebooting the VMM server or restarting the "System Center Virtual Machine Manager" service. Then, I am able to bring up the console and my backup
jobs return to normal. This repeats itself around once every 7 - 10 days.
The odd part is that there is no indication in the event logs of any problems. In fact, it appears VMM continues running other jobs. The service never stops or indicates any problems whatsoever. I've searched extensively on the web for answers, but didn't
find anything relevant. Almost everyone had problems with the VMM service. This isn't the case for me.
I have SCVMM 2012 SP1 and SQL 2012 SP1 on the same machine, named SEA-HV-VMM. This is a Hyper-V virtual machine and dynamic memory is disabled. It is running on a two-node cluster. All recent updates are installed. This is actually my second attempt
at VMM; the first one was on a physical server and had the exact same problem, so I threw it away and tried again. I suppose I could simply schedule a reboot every night, but I would rather solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
