On a new deployment of SCVMM 2012, I'm unable to shut down two of my already-running VMs - I receive the following error: "The virtual machines cannot be shut down because Virtual Guest Services are not installed on the guest operating system or because the installed Virtual Guest Services do not support shutting down the guest operating system that is running on the virtual machine. To shut down, you must install Virtual Guest Services that support shutting down the guest operating system. ID: 1735".
I'm having this problem on one VM on each of the two VM hosts that I've added to SCVMM 2012, one is running Server 2008 R2 and one is running Server 2008 R2 SP1. I have shut down the VM (using the Hyper-V console), then used the Install Virtual Guest Services option on an affected VM - that process completes without error however the problem still exists afterward (and, I suspect the latest version of Guest Services was installed prior to this step). The Server 2008 R2 host was previously managed by SCVMM 2008 R2 and this functionality worked. Both VMs are running Server 2008 R2.
Other VMs on these hosts do not have this problem, just these two VMs. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
