Remote SCVMM cmdlets not responding

Hey guys, I ran into a weird situation today. I have two servers (both domain joined to the same domain), one running SCVMM 2012 R2, and the other is just a management server. From the management server, we run Powershell scripts against the SCVMM server to automate things. On the management server, we have installed the SCVMM console, which also installs the Powershell module for SCVMM.

The scripts were working a while ago. However, today we noticed the scripts were stuck, we could not use the scripts to perform tasks on the SCVMM server from the management server. The first thing I tried, was to run the script directly on the SCVMM server, and it worked correctly. So, the commands work locally, but not remotely.

I checked all connectivity related items: the firewall is turned off. The SCVMM server responds to a ping from the mgmt. server. I am able to remote powershell (using enter-pssession) from the management server. I am able to connect with WBEMtest to the SCVMM server from the mgmt. server, and execute a simple query. I am able to connect using telnet to the SCVMM service on port 8100.

However, when I run a simple command like "get-scvmserver -servername SCVMMserver.domain.local", I'm not getting any results at all. I'm not getting a time out, I'm not getting an access denied message, I'm literally not getting any output at all. When I hit the enter button, the Powershell window seems to freeze. And it freezes for hours, without any response at all. This is why the scripts aren't running.

I dug a little deeper into the problem, checking the DCOM config to see if it allows remote execution, and it does. Checked WMI mgmt. security settings - the users should be able to access WMI remotely. I restarted the SCVMM service and the WMI service, but when I run a simple command, the powershell prompt seems to freeze. I rebooted the server - same results. I even reinstalled the SCVMM console on the mgmt. server - same results.

I can't find any blogs or articled on the web describing this problem. None of my coworkers have any idea what might be causing this issue, and I'm running out of ideas how to fix it. It appears that only the SCVMM cmdlets from a remote connection aren't working for some reason. Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this weird behavior?
