Hi All,
I'm having a 6-nodes HyperV cluster (Windows Server 2012 R2 DC) that was recently configured, and I created a VM hosting SCVMM 2012 R2 on this Hyper-V cluster.
On SCVMM, I have 2 VM templates created, one with Dynamic Disk and one with Fixed Disk. Creating a VM using the template with Dynamic Disk always goes successfully. However, creating a VM using the template with Fixed Disk (100 GB of size) always fails at the stage of copying the vhdx file (using the Fast File Copy). It starts copying the file but randomly stops at (10%, 35%, 60%).
It fails with Error (2944), which says that SCVMM is not able to reach or contact the destination host. Which is true, Upon checking the SCVMM VM, it totally lost network connectivity with the environment after some random time of copying the vhdx. Not able to ping or reach in/out. All Hyper-V cluster Hosts are able to reach each others, but SCVMM got totally isolated, and I had to restart the Host (on which SCVMM VM is on) in order to rectify the issue and got SCVMM network back after being moved to another host. Disabling NIC on VM and changing the VM's network adapter settings to "Not connected" do not work, it takes long time then it fails. In other words, changing any thing related to Network either from VM or host fails at this stage, until I restart the Host
I enabled and captured VMM trace logs during the new VM Deployment scenario from SCVMM and from the host on which SCVMM is on, and uploaded them to OneDrive. In this attempt, the vhdx copy process stopped at 45% and then the VMM got isolated.
