Our current environment is this:
We have a 3 node Windows 2008 R2 failover cluster running ~100 VMs and connected to an EMC VNX5300 via iSCSI
We have a 3 node Windows 2012 failover cluster running 1 VM and connected to an EMC VNX5300 via iSCSI
We have System Center 2012 VMM SP1 installed on the 1 VM running Windows Server 2012 in the 2012 cluster.
Both clusters are on the same Subnet
What we want to do is find a way to migrate all of the VMs off of the 2008 R2 cluster and put them into the 2012 cluster (We are planning on upgrading all of the nodes to 2012).
I tried to migrate a powered on VM and I got the following error:
VMM cannot migrate or clone the virtual machine (LILY) because the version (6.2.9200.16384) of the virtualization software on the destination host (BOMBADIL) does not match the version of the virtualization software on
the source host (6.1.7601.17514). To migrate or clone the virtual machine, the virtual machine must be stopped. The virtual machine cannot be in a saved state, and cannot contain any checkpoints that were created when the virtual machine was in a running or
saved state.
I have tried to migrate a powered down VM and I received this error:
No available connection to selected VM Network can be found.
I'm new to VMM 2012 so I'm sure I'm missing something simple here. If someone can point in the right direction to having the ability to migrate
between the two clusters, either online oroffline, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
