We are running SCVMM 2016, and have been using SCVMM since 2008 R2. One area that I have not been able to find any information on, is when to create Logical Switches in the Fabric. I guess my first question is - do we use the Fabric ONLY for networks the Virtual Machines will use?
I have been creating and attaching Logical Switches for the Host Systems as well. For example the iSCSI Network, and Cluster Heartbeat. In testing, I noticed that performance was not really that great, for HOST related functions. I deleted those switches, and then created ones with SR-IOV enabled. That improved things immensely, but HOST related functions are still not as fast, as if I just left the networks on those machines alone.
So I am guessing that the Fabric only represents Networks that the Virtual Machines can use/be connected to.
Would like some feedback on what you do - and if I am even understanding the above correctly. I have a new Cluster about to go into Production, so would like to get this sorted out before it does (and then go back and correct other Clusters that may not be setup correctly).
