I have a dev installation of scvmm I have been playing with and I am running into some errors that I can't find an answer to. When I try to add a resource to a Library, I get an error "Unable to browse folders. VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the resource \\SCVMM.abc.com\MSSCVMMLibrary on the SCVMM.abc.com server".
From a Windows perspective, everything works perfectly. I can browse to the share, create or delete files and folders and do pretty much anything you would expect to be able to do in a share. But, I can't do a ting from within the VMM console on that share. It won't even see the new resources I created from Windows. And, since there isn't a single error logged in the event log, I have no idea what the security context is (who is "VMM"?) that is being used or the specific resource that it can't access. I have to assume that the error is one that is generated in VMM itself but I don't know for certain.
I started seeing this when running the VMM console under my own userid on my Windows 10 box so, to isolate the problem a bit more, I decided to remote into the VMM box as a domain admin and try it from there. I got exactly the same error and exactly the same complete lack of explanation.
Any suggestions as to where I should go from here? My greater concern is that this is just a symptom of one area that I will most likely run into again and again as I explore other areas. I set this box up this time (yes, I have tried using VMM many times in the past without luck) to check out its integration with Azure. But, if i can't get it running properly on prem, there is no point in trying to evaluate Azure integration.
